This project is a narrative-driven hero prop inspired by 19th-century antique music boxes.
The goal was to create a believable, game-ready asset that combines elegant craftsmanship with subtle storytelling. The music box belonged to a ballerina and, over time, shows signs of wear, usage, and abandonment — while still preserving its delicate beauty.
The asset was created following a full production pipeline:
-Blockout and low poly in Maya
-High poly sculpting in ZBrush (ballerina, floral ornament on the lid and inserts on the base of the box)
-Texturing in Substance Painter, with a focus on material storytelling and realistic wear
Particular attention was given to:
-Brass material definition and oxidation
-Contrast between clean and worn areas to enhance narrative
The prop is optimized for real-time applications and presented with a complete breakdown, including wireframes, UVs, and texture maps.
